What is a Thesis?

A Thesis  to me is a statement that contains the main, central position of a research or an essay. A Thesis also identifies a author or writer main point of view or what the author/writer is discussing in an essay or document. My major is Legal Studies and I thing a thesis statement can be compared to a lawyer presenting an opening statement. As an Attorney when I do my research, the thesis statement is my answer to the research question in the paper. Having a thesis makes it more easier for your reader/audience to understand wht your writing about in your document/paper.
