Sociology

In today’s society, sociology has played a huge part in everyone lives. By getting to understand ourselves and each other using sociology theories and applying them to our everyday lives. By implementing sociological theories and strategies within our lives, “enables us to see how behavior is largely shaped by the groups to which we belong and the society in which we live,” (Kendall, p. 4). 

Sociology is defined as “the systematic study of human society and social interaction,” (Kendall, p. 4). The foundation of sociology is made of three major theoretical paradigms which helps in the implementation of theories.  Paradigms is defined as a “set of assumptions, concepts, values, and practices that constitutes a way of viewing reality for the community that shares them, especially in an intellectual discipline,” (Inc, 2004). They are Structural-Functional Paradigm, Social-Conflict Paradigm and Symbolic Paradigm.
